First Good Shepherd Lutheran School Second Grade
Getting to know Mrs. Hines!
My name is Michelle Hines and I have been married to my husband John for sixteen years. I have two beautiful daughters; Hannah is twelve and going to be a seventh grader at
Faith Lutheran
, while Hailey is nine and she will be in fourth grade this year here at First Good Shepherd. God has so richly blessed me with my loving and supportive family.
As a child I attended First Good Shepherd. I graduated from sixth grade and continued my junior high and high school education at
Faith Lutheran
from where I graduated in 1990. I spent one year at Concordia Riverforest, and returned home to finish my college schooling at UNLV. I received a BS degree in education, with a minor in social work. In 1999 I completed my masters degree in creative arts from
Lesley College
based out of Massachusetts. Once I began work at FGS, I desired to be a fully called teacher and, therefore, completed the
colloquy program
offered by the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. This rigorous program focuses on religious studies and vests me with the same degree obtained by teachers who graduate from synodical colleges and universities. I am now a called Minister of Education. In June, I graduated from the
SLED program
, which is the School Leadership and Development Program of the Lutheran School System. This program helps train called teachers for administrative positions.
I am currently in my seventeenth year of teaching. I have taught both second and third grades. Teaching is my passion. I look forward to work each morning and I love the opportunity God has placed before me to share His message. I truly love the children He has entrusted to me and I pray daily that I use the talents He has given me to serve these children to the best of my abilities.
