First Good Shepherd DARE Program
In the fall, Officer Beck teaches D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) to fifth grade students. D.A.R.E. is a police officer-led series of classroom
lessons that teaches students how to resist peer pressure and live productive, drug and violence-free lives.
Officer Beck is a member of First Good Shepherd and teaches this national program to our students from a Christian perspective. At the end of the
twleve week program, students write an essay that explains what they have learned and includes a personal pledge showing their commitment
to leading drug-free lives.
Families are invited to the graduation ceremony in January which includes a guest speaker, the top three essay writers reading their essays, graduation certificates, and a reception in the parish hall.
