First Good Shepherd DARE Program

DARE at First Good Shepherd In the fall, Officer Beck teaches D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) to fifth grade students. D.A.R.E. is a police officer-led series of classroom lessons that teaches students how to resist peer pressure and live productive, drug and violence-free lives.

Officer Janet Beck Officer Beck is a member of First Good Shepherd and teaches this national program to our students from a Christian perspective. At the end of the twleve week program, students write an essay that explains what they have learned and includes a personal pledge showing their commitment to leading drug-free lives.

Families are invited to the graduation ceremony in January which includes a guest speaker, the top three essay writers reading their essays, graduation certificates, and a reception in the parish hall.
